Leon A. Murrow, 56, of Elsmore died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
He was born Oct. 15, 1951, in Moran, the son of Vernon and Helen M. (Dunington) Murrow. He was graduated from Blue Mound High School and worked for Elsmore Grain.
He became a dairyman and had hogs on the farm. He went to work at Klein Tools and later managed Stark Grain Elevator. Raising hogs and dairy cattle was a passion for Murrow for more than 21 years. In 1993, he transformed his dairy operation into a beef cattle operation that exists today. He liked to hunt, garden and fish.
He was a member of the volunteer fire department in Elsmore
On Feb. 5, 1971, he was married to Sandra J. Dumcum in Parker.
He is survived by his wife of the home, two sons, Scott and his wife, Gretchen, Humboldt, and Brian, Osawatomie; seven grandchildren, Ashley Murrow, Alex Murrow, Marley Murrow, Cole Murrow, Joe Murrow, Isabelle Murrow and Kirstyn Murrow; his mother, Helen M. Murrow, Blue Mound; a brother, Bill, Blue Mound; a sister, Donna Casner, Fort Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His father died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elsmore United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elsmore Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Moran.
Memorial contributions the Princeton Christian Church or Midland Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
