Moran in Iola Thursday

Rep. Jerry Moran, who has represented western Kansas in Congress since 1997, will be in Iola to speak at Thursday’s Rotary Club meeting.
Moran has indicated he will seek Sam Brownback’s U.S. Senate seat. Brownback is leaving the senate for a gubernatorial run.
Moran, 55, served eight years in the Kansas Senate, the last two as majority leader, before his congressional bid in 1996. He’s been re-elected easily five times.
Moran is one of two Republicans seeking the Senate seat. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, also a House member, is the other.
The Rotary Club will meet at noon at The New Greenery Restaurant. Those who would like to eat should be there by noon. Those wishing solely to hear Moran speak should be there by 12:20.
