Spooky fun for Saturday

Iola Recreation Department’s 10th annual Shocktober celebration kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Recreation Community Building in Riverside Park.
The event will feature an assortment of games, costumes, a jack-o’-lantern carving contest and dinner provided by the Iola Elks.
Costume contests rating the scariest, funniest, most original and best overall costumes are open for three age groups, 4 years and younger, 5-7 and 8 years and older.
In addition to an assortment of carnival games will be face painting, a spook house and a cake walk.
Each game requires one ticket. Each child attending gets four free tickets. Tickets will sell four for $1 at the carnival. Advance tickets sell five for $1 at the recreation office through Friday.
