A wall hanging that doubles as an Advent calendar, shown here, is among the elegant Christmas decorations on display at the home of Martin and Stephanie (Quincy) Crist.

The annual Allen County Animal Rescue Facility Holiday Homes Tour will feature six local homes elaborately decorated for Christmas. The Register will feature stories and photos of each of the homes today through Friday.
Visitors to the home of Martin and Stephanie (Quincy) Crist at 112 N. Cottonwood St. will be treated to an elegant collection of Christmas decorations and a prized family heirloom.
The centerpiece of the Crist display is a homemade wall hanging crafted by Stephanie’s mother, Iolan Dixie Quincy.
Quincy has converted the hanging into an Advent calendar, complete with Santa hanging a star on a Christmas tree. The hanging features small pill bottles that can be filled with candy or other treats to be opened each day until Christmas.
The Crist’s cottage style home was built at the turn of the 20th century by the Northrup family, who were involved in banking, lumber and brick industries in the area.
The home has been updated over the years and includes palladium windows that previously served as French doors that opened onto the front porch.
The front porch includes original stone columns, idwells and steps with cylindrical columns and brickwork.
