Wreck kills Erie teen

Kayla M. Walters, 18, Erie, was killed Sunday afternoon when the truck in which she was riding crashed in rural Neosho County.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the driver of the truck, Freddie L. Heitman, 20, Erie, was eastbound on K-47, then turned south on Meade Road, about two miles southeast of Erie, when the passenger side of the vehicle struck a bridge rail.
The truck rolled over the side and landed in a stream.
Walters was taken to Labette County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Neither Heitman nor five other passengers were injured.
None of the occupants was wearing a seat belt, according to KHP.
