Crest, Marmaton Valley split junior high games

MORAN — Crest Middle School’s Lancers defeated host Marmaton Valley Junior High’s Wildcats 28-13 in A-team play Thursday.
The Lancers held the Wildcats scoreless in the second and third quarters. Crest was up 13-6 at halftime and added seven more points in the third quarter.
In the final period of the game, Crest held an 8-7 scoring edge. Crest’s A-team improved to 3-0.
Brock Ellis tossed in 16 points for Crest. Clayton Miller and Austin Green each had five points. Landon Stephens scored two.
Marmaton Valley got six points from Chance Stevenson and five from Joey Jefferis. Nick Trollope scored two points.
Marmaton Valley won the B-team game 30-16. The Wildcats led the Lancers 16-6 at halftime.
Shaun Frey scored 17 points for Marmaton Valley. Trent Johnson added four. Scoring two points each were Coltan Alexander, Ashton Culbertson, Austin Pinkerton and Dylan Mayo-Mendel. Kohl Endicott had one point.
For Crest, Braden McGhee scored eight points. Kyler Bowen and Rene Rodriquez had four points each.
Crest hosts Westphalia at Colony Monday.
Marmaton Valley goes to Uniontown Monday then has one game against St. Rose at Garnett on Tuesday.
