Crest boys lose to Central Heights

COLONY — Crest High’s boys found points hard to come by after halftime Tuesday night.
Visiting Central Heights High was there to take full advantage. The Vikings outscored Crest 26-13 after intermission in a 51-33 win.
The loss drops Crest to 5-2 on the season.
“We came out in the third quarter a little flat,” Lancer head coach Travis Hermreck said. “We were always on the edge of getting back into it from there, and they were on the edge of running us off the court.
“This game was good for us,” he continued. “Central Heights is a good team, and they created a lot of havoc for us. Our youth showed, and we didn’t do a good job of executing the whole game.”
Kyle Hammond scored 15 points and Bryan Newton had 14 for the Lancers, who led 15-13 after one period. Central Heights took the upper hand 28-24 at the break. They Viking lead grew to 39-28 by the end of the third quarter.
Russell Hampton scored 16 to pace the Vikings, followed by Sam Leach with 13 and Cody Sluder with 11.
Crest returns home Friday to host Marmaton Valley.
