Freshman Fillies play Columbus

COFFEYVILLE — Iola High’s freshman volleyball team ended up playing only Columbus in what was scheduled as a quadrangular at Coffeyville’s Field Kindley High School Tuesday.
“There was a scheduling mix-up with Fredonia and Coffeyville didn’t play because of illness and injuries,” said Casey Greenwood, Iola High assistant coach. “So we played a best 3 out of 5 match with Columbus.”
Columbus won the match 25-21, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14.
“We started coming back but the deficit was too big. All our hitters had at least one kill and all our servers had at least one ace,” Greenwood said. “It’s never fun to end the season with a loss.”
Breanna Stout has 11 ace serves on the night for Iola and nine kills. Tessa Rowe had five service aces.
Those with two service aces each were Alyssa Zimmerman, Essence Owens, Reagan Ford and Katie Thompson. Thompson had six kills while Zimmerman and Chanel Coyne had two kills each.
