IHS teams lose in Iola JV Invitational

Iola High is hosting the IHS Junior Varsity Invitational, which is a round robin event. The first round of games were Thursday night.
The teams will play two more rounds on Saturday. All the girls’ games are at the Iola Middle School while the boys’ contests are at Iola High School.
Iola High’s Fillies lost 30-23 to Fort Scott Thursday. Fort Scott pushed out to an 11-2 first-quarter lead but it was 15-7 at halftime.
The Fillies outscored the Tigers 8-2 to make it 17-14 after three quarters. Fort Scott closed out the game with a 13-9 run in the fourth quarter.
Iola was led by Lisa McFadden’s 16 points. Jade Weeter paced the Tigers with 13 points.
Iola plays Parsons at 9:30 Saturday morning. It takes on Chanute at 2:30 p.m.
Chanute beat Parsons 52-39 Thursday led by Morgan Olson with 14 points. Parsons got 14 points from Da’Zaneece Werner and 10 from Carleigh Woods.
Iola High’s Mustangs were down 31-19 to Fort Scott by halftime. The Tigers posted a 59-26 win.
Braden Larson scored eight points and Devon Conner had seven for Iola. Matt Wright fired in 23 points for Fort Scott.
Iola takes on Anderson County at 9:30 a.m. Saturday then plays Chanute at 2:30 p.m.
Anderson County beat Chanute 49-35 led by Arthur White with 10 points. Ryan Haynes had 12 for Chanute.
