IMS Pony Stampede tourney is Saturday

Eight seventh-grade girls’ basketball teams are set to compete in Saturday’s Iola Middle School’s Pony Stampede.
The Stampede is two four-team brackets. Each bracket has championship and third-place games.
In pool one are Iola, Pittsburg, Parsons and Pleasanton. That bracket plays games at the IMS gym starting at 9 a.m.
Iola takes on Pittsburg to open play. The winner plays the winner of the Parsons-Pleasanton game for the championship. The losing teams play for third place.
At Iola High School, Coffeyville plays Independence at 9 a.m. followed by Columbus taking on Royster of Chanute. Winners play for first and losers play for third.
In both gyms, the third-place games are slated for 11:30 a.m. and the championship games are at 12:45 p.m.
Medals are awarded to first, second and third place in each bracket.
Admission is $1 for students and $2 for adults.
