IMS girls notch one win in four

PITTSBURG — Iola Middle School’s seventh-grade B-team claimed a 22-3 win over host Pittsburg Community Middle School Thursday.
Jo Lohman fired in 12 points for Iola. Torrie Lewis had four. Scoring two each were Emery Driskel, Brianne Jett and Addie Haar.
In the seventh-grade A-team game, Pittsburg edged Iola 21-10. Haley Slater scored 10 points for Iola. Lohman had four points. Kyra Moore, Lexie Long and Emmalee Seabolt each had two points.
“We did a better job competing Thursday night,” said Marty Taylor, IMS head coach. “Jo had a very good night in both games.”
Pittsburg defeated the IMS eighth-grade A-team 29-12. Alexis Hobbs and Emma Sigg each had six points for the Ponies.
“A pretty good effort, especially in the first half,” Taylor said. “The girls played hard all night.”
In B-team action, Pittsburg beat Iola 20-3. Megan Smith scored two and Danni Ware had one for Iola.
The IMS eighth-grade team is in Saturday’s Winter Classic at Parsons. The Iola girls finish up their season Monday on the road in Parsons.
