Indians overpower the Eagles

UNIONTOWN — Friday’s contest between Oswego High and host Uniontown High likely was decided in the offseason, Eagle head coach Chad Stroud lamented.
“They (Oswego) have a new weight room and they’ve put it to good use,” Stroud said.
Oswego spotted the Eagles a 13-0 lead before roaring back.
The Indians scored the game’s last 44 points in a 44-13 win.
The loss drops Uniontown’s record to 2-3 on the season. The Eagles travel to Olpe next Friday.
“We came out sky high,” Stroud said. “We played hard for 10 to 12 minutes before we got tired.”
Ben Dixon started the scoring with a 15-yard run, followed by a one-yard run by Ty Clayton to give the Eagles a 13-0 lead after one period.
But as the Eagle offense struggled from there, Oswego’s was just getting into gear.
The Indians scored 22 points in the second quarter to take a nine-point lead before tacking on 16 more in the third period to seize control.
Each team’s respective ground game told the story. Uniontown had 39 yards on 40 carries, while Oswego racked up 366 yards on the ground.
Zach Travis completed 5 of 15 passes for 86 yards, including one to Dixon for 39 yards.
Clayton had 13 tackles and an interception for the Eagle defense. Matt Maloney added 13 tackles, while Jordan Woods, Luke Ripper and Max Labbe had 12 stops each.
