Iola JV tennis completes season

NEODESHA — Iola High’s junior varsity tennis players wrapped up their season Tuesday playing at Neodesha High’s competition.
Amber Snesrud played in No. 1 singles for the Fillies. She lost 6-0 to Jackie Newland of Neodesha, 6-1 to Elyse Merritt of Labette County, 6-4 to Callie Mcaskill of Coffeyville and 6-2 to Ashley Parrett of Chanute.
Ty Ellis and Autumn Snesrud played as Iola’s No. 1 doubles team. They went 1-2 with their win coming in the final match.
They lost 6-4 to Woolfolk and Bular of Labette County then dropped a 6-2 decision to Tabby Patchett and Becky Patchett of Neodesha Blue. Iola’s duo defeated Erin Christensen and Elizabeth Fehr of Chanute 6-3.
Iola’s No. 2 doubles team of Abbey St. Clair and Katana Smith also went 1-2.
They lost 6-2 to Kayla Beasly and Kayla Kaby of Labette County and 6-1 to Berana Goodman and Johanna Smedberg of Neodesha Blue. St. Clair and Smith notched a 6-2 win over Whitney Burns and Micheale Davied of Neodesha White.
“None of these girls had ever played tennis before joining the team this year,” said Jennifer Bycroft, Fillies’ tennis coach.
“I saw improvements in all of the players. Now they have a little experience under their belt to ready them for next year.”
