Lady Lancers fall to Jayhawks

COLONY — Visiting Jayhawk-Linn High scored the game’s first 22 points, then raced to a 37-6 halftime advantage Friday to send the Crest High girls to their second straight defeat.
The Jayhawks pushed their lead to 39 points by the end of the third quarter in a 53-18 win.
After its torrid start, Jayhawk-Linn outscored Crest 14-6 in the third quarter to lead 51-12. Crest held a 6-2 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter.
Amanda Strickler scored seven points and Kolby Gilliland had six for Crest. Amory Miller led Jayhawk-Linn with 10 points.
Jayhawk-Linn also came out on top in junior varsity action 25-12 in a two-quarter contest. Kursten Gilliland scored six to lead Crest’s JV.
The Lady Lancer (0-2) play their third game in five days Monday when they go to Yates Center to participate in the Wildcat Winter Classic. Crest takes on Altoona-Midway at 8 p.m. in the east gymnasium.
