Lady Bullpups beat Wildcat girls

YATES CENTER — For two quarters, Yates Center High stood toe-to-toe with visiting Caney Valley High’s girls.
But the Lady Bullpups took full control with a 19-4 third-quarter spurt to win 61-34.
The loss drops Yates Center to 3-3 as they head into the Christmas break.
“We just didn’t take care of the ball,” Wildcat head coach Abbie Collins said. “We didn’t handle their half-court trap.”
The Wildcats were knotted at 11-11 and trailed 24-20 at intermission.
Caney Valley’s run in the third quarter gave the Lady Bullpups 43-24 lead. Caney Valley closed the game with an 18-10 run.
Kassy Reynolds paced Yates Center with 13 points and nine rebounds. Jessica Hartwig had five steals.
Kayla Clopp scored 22 points and Bethan Barlow scored 20 for Caney Valley.
Yates Center took the junior varsity contest 40-30. Cherokee Shaffer paced the Wildcat JV with 10 points.
