Lady Titans, Indians take top seeds
in 1A volleyball regionals

Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans with a 28-3 mark earned top seed in the Kansas Class 1A regional volleyball tournament they are hosting Tuesday.
In that same regional tournament, Yates Center High’s Wildcats (2-28) are the No. 6 seed. The Wildcats play No. 3 seeded Hartford (9-15) Tuesday.
The winner moves into the semifinals to play second-seeded Marais Des Cygnes Valley High. Southern Coffey County awaits the winner of fourth-seeded Waverly (10-18) and fifth-seeded Flinthills (10-19).
In the 1A regional at St. Paul Tuesday, St. Paul High’s Indians (20-11) are the No. 1 seed. Crest High’s Lady Lancers (20-11) are the No. 2 seed. Both receive first-round byes.
Altoona-Midway (10-22) plays Elk Valley (5-22), pitting No. 4 against No. 5, in the first round. Third-seeded Chetopa (16-16) plays sixth-seeded Pleasanton (1-29).
The winner of the Altoona-Midway- Elk Valley match takes on St. Paul. Crest awaits the winner of the Chetopa-Pleasanton match.
Semifinal winners play in the championship match.
The top two teams from each regional advance to Class 1A substate volleyball tournaments, Oct. 24.
Both regionals involving area teams begin play at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
