Lady Titans deck Hartford

LE ROY — Southern Coffey County High’s girls got out to a quick start to notch their fifth win in six tries Tuesday.
The Lady Titans jumped out to a 16-3 lead and rolled from there in a 49-21 win over visiting Hartford High.
“The girls played with good intensity,” Lady Titan head coach Jeff True said. “We did a better job of boxing out in this game, but it is something that we still need to get a lot better at.”
Southern Coffey County’s lead grew to 31-5 by intermission and 43-14 after three periods.
The Lady Titans shot 46 percent, 18 of 39, and hit 9 of 17 free throws. Leading the way was Shelby Birk with 14 points, followed by Kristen Stephens with nine and Kaitlin Meyer with eight. Kristen Garland had four assists; Kristen Stephens led with six rebounds.
Kellie Farr led Hartford with nine points.
The Jaguars won the junior varsity contest 33-17. Sara Webb and Jenna Witteman each scored five for the Lady Titan JV.
Southern Coffey County, which improved to 3-1 in Lyon County League play and 5-1 overall, travels to Waverly Friday in LCL action.
