Lady Titans overwhelm Lady Jets

BUFFALO — Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans cruised past host Altoona-Midway High’s Lady Jets 63-13 Tuesday.
In a non-league contest, the Lady Titans pushed out to a 19-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. It was 34-5 at halftime then Southern Coffey County owned a 21-0 third quarter.
“It was a good game to get all the girls some varsity minutes. Ten of the 14 who suited up scored for us,” said Jeff True, SCCH girls’ head coach.
After knocking off a little rust, the Lady Titans dominated, led by Shelby Birk’s 16 points and Laurie Ohl’s six rebounds. Kandace Shields and Samantha Jacob each had four steals.
Southern Coffey County shot 42 percent, 26 of 22, from the field. Birk hit four threes as the Lady Titans were 6 of 14 from beyond the arc.
Kaylee Leck scored 10 points for Altoona-Midway.
The Lady Titans (4-1) travel to Melvern Friday to play Marais Des Cygnes Valley in Lyon County League action.
There was no report on the boys’ game between SCCH and Altoona-Midway.
