Lancers chalk up TRL win

COLONY — Crest High’s boys started slowly, but eventually took full control Friday to mark a bruising tally in the win column.
The Lancers erupted for 22 points in the second quarter and easily outdistanced visiting Altoona-Midway High, 61-26.
The victory lifts Crest’s record to 7-2, but left head coach Travis Hermreck a bit perturbed.
“This was not only one of the ugliest games I’ve seen, but it was one of the roughest I’ve ever seen,” Hermreck said.
The teams were whistled for a combined 41 fouls.
“The style of game affected our total approach,” Hermreck said. “We had a good physical effort, but we struggled with our mental approach.”
Kyle Hammond poured in a game-high 16 points to pace the Lancers, followed by Dakota Ramsey with 11 and Dexter Wiley and Bryan Newton with eight apiece.
Dillon Damrom-Smith paced the Jets with seven points.
Crest begins play Tuesday at the Pleasanton High Blu-Jay Mid-Season Tournament. The top-seeded Lancers will take on Prairie View.
