MVJH girls beat Crest in tourney play

UNIONTOWN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s A-team notched a 27-12 win over Crest Middle School’s girls Monday in tournament action. The tournament is hosted by Uniontown Middle School.
With the win, the Wildcats play Uniontown tonight at 8 o’clock.
Marmaton Valley pushed out to a 10-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and was up 14-5 at halftime. Crest trailed 20-12 going into the fourth quarter.
“Our girls played hard defensively and pressed Crest. We created turnovers and took advantage of those,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH coach.
Kaitlin Ensminger and Emily Meiwes each had eight points. Hannah Endicott scored six followed by Cheyenne English with four and Ashtynn Louk with one
Crest was led by Karsyn Menzie with five points. Maley Sherman had three points. Erica Holman and Emily Frank each had two points.
