Marmaton Valley, Crest play volleyball matches

COLONY — Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats split volleyball matches played at Crest High School Tuesday.
The Wildcats defeated Lawrence Bishop Seabury 25-12, 25-17. Marmaton Valley had 21 kills in the match led by Maggie Meiwes with nine and Cheyanne Miller with eight. Alysha Westhoff had two kills and 23 set assists.
“We had three starters out because of illness and our other girls stepped up and played well,” said Lindsay Johnson, Marmaton Valley head coach.
“Kailey Boyd and Lauren Scharff did a great job passing to our setter so our hitters could get some nice hits.”
Crest defeated Marmaton Valley 25-23, 25-18. Miller had eight kills, one block and two ace serves for the Wildcats. Meiwes made two kills and had a block. Westhoff had 13 assists and three ace serves.
“The girls played well. We saved balls that usually drop against us. Even though we lost physically I would say it was a moral win for our girls,” Johnson said.
Crest was led by Amanda Strickler with 10 kills and eight assists. Ashley Catt had 10 assists and one ace serve. Melissa Honn had five kills and four ace serves. Chelsey Brooks had 11 digs.
Crest defeated Bishop Seabury 25-1, 25-13. Catt had 10 set assists, three ace serves and one kill. Honn, Caitlin Golden and Katrina Strickler each had two aces serves and Tessa Louk had three aces. Amanda Strickler had seven kills and two blocks.
