Marmaton Valley Jr. High, Pleasanton split games

MORAN — Visiting Pleasanton Junior High’s Blu-Jays led 8-4 after one quarter. Marmaton Valley Junior High’s Wildcat girls just couldn’t catch up Thursday night.
Marmaton Valley ended up lost 24-17 in A-team basketball play. The A-team is 3-5 overall.
Pleasanton led 14-8 at halftime. Marmaton Valley got it to within four, 16-12 heading into the fourth quarter.
Hannah Endicott led the Wildcats with eight points. Kaitlin Ensminger added five points. Cheyenne English and Ashtynn Louk each had two points.
The Wildcat B-team won 16-15 led by Mackenzie Tynon with 10 points. Chloe Lhuillier had four points and Mariah Root had two points.
Marmaton Valley’s B-team is 5-3.
“Free throws were the name of these games. In the A-team game, we were 1 of 15 while Pleasanton was 8 of 16. Those eight points came in the last couple minutes of the game,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH head coach.
“We were 2 of 2 at the free-throw line in the B-team game and Pleasanton was 1 of 8.”
Marmaton Valley has two more regular season dates, traveling to Westphalia Monday and to Crest next Thursday. It will play in a tournament starting Nov. 30.
