Panthers leave Eagles in wake

UNIONTOWN — Pittsburg’s St. Mary’s-Colgan High’s Panthers needed just one quarter to put distance between themselves and the Uniontown High’s Eagles.
The hosting Eagles stayed with the Panthers for the first quarter, trailing just 17-10. But then the Panthers outscored the Eagles 21-6 and never looked back in Friday night’s 62-35 win.
Zach Travis scored nine points the Eagles and DuShaun Robinson added eight points. Ben Dixon had six points followed by Robert Kuns with five and Brenton Esslinger with three. Dakota Wiley and Allen Johnson each had two points.
Colgan was led by Chris Smith with 12 points and Jordan Smith with 10.
The Eagles open action at the Pleasanton High Blu-Jays Mid-Season Tournament. They play Jayhawk-Linn.
