“I thought our wrestlers did really well for the first tournament,” said Ron Schomaker, IMS head wrestling coach. “We wrestled pretty deep into matches, giving us more experience.”
There are 22 wrestlers on the Iola squad this season. The IMS Classic, Iola’s only home matches, is Tuesday. Matches begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Iola High School gym.
Eighth-graders Michael Armstrong and John Whitworth came back strong after losing their second matches of the night. Armstrong pinned Vinson of Eureka then lost 2-0 to Kinder of Caney Valley. He took second by pinning Wilson of Osawatomie.
