Titans lose district contest to Bulldogs

LE ROY — Costly breakdowns in the second quarter did in Southern Coffey County High Friday.
Visiting Madison High took full advantage, rolling to a 32-0 lead by halftime.
Madison’s resulting 46-18 puts Southern Coffey County’s record at 2-3. More importantly, the Titans are 0-1 in district play, which determines which teams qualify for postseason.
The second quarter was critical. Madison scored three times, including a 28-yard run with less than 10 seconds left in the half to seize full control.
“Other than the second quarter, it was a pretty even game,” Titan head coach John Chanley said. “Our kids never gave up. They hung in there through the second half.”
The Titans broke into the scoring column with a six-yard touchdown pass from Ben Spencer to Aaron Ludolph. A Dylan Wonser quarterback sack for a safety followed by a one-yard touchdown run by Drew Parrish capped Southern Coffey County’s scoring in the fourth quarter.
Parrish had 60 yards on 17 carries, followed by Spencer’s nine totes for 51 yards. Spencer completed 12 of 30 passes for 124 yards. Chyler Ludolph had 37 yards on six receptions. Aaron Ludolph had three catches for 38. Parrish also covered 45 yards on two receptions.
Colin Kraft, Ethan Graham and Travis Bryan each had 10 tackles to pace the Titan Defense. Chyler Ludolph also recovered a fumble.
Southern Coffey County travels to Lebo next Friday.
