Top-ranked Olpe tops SCC

LE ROY — A battle of small-school titans turned into defeat for the Lady Titans of Southern Coffey County High Friday.
Visiting Olpe, the top-ranked Class 2A school in the state, handed Southern Coffey County its first loss of the season, 63-45.
The defeat comes in the final game of the pre-Christmas schedule for the Lady Titans.
The Eagles took control in the second quarter. Southern Coffey County led 15-12 when Olpe embarked on an 18-6 run to lead 30-21 at the break.
A 22-11 run that spanned the third quarter gave Olpe a 20-point cushion.
“We did not shoot the ball well enough tonight to beat a team like Olpe,” Southern Coffey County head coach Jeff True said. “They have a lot of weapons. They are definitely deserving of their number one ranking.”
