Wildcats fall to Lebo in district opener

LEBO — Marmaton Valley High was lacking in two key areas Friday night: running the ball on offense and stopping the run on defense.
The Wildcats mustered only 18 yards rushing, while host Lebo high racked up 198 yards on the ground.
Lebo’s resulting 46-0 victory left Wildcat head coach Dan Uhlrich in a foul mood.
“If we don’t stop the run and we can’t run the ball, we’re not going to win too many games,” Uhlrich said. “Lebo was too physical for us up front.”
The Wolves blasted the game open with a 38-point second quarter, turning an 8-0 lead into a 46-0 advantage.
The game ended at halftime via Kansas’ eight-man mercy rule.
Ethan Ericson completed 3 of 7 passes for 41 yards, two of which went to Logan Booth for 34 yards and one to Daylen Houk for seven yards. Landon Hammond rushed seven times for 14 yards.
Tanner Lewis led the Marmaton Valley defense with five tackles.
The Wildcats, 2-3 overall and 0-1 in district play, have little time to mope.
They’ll host Tri-Valley League rival Crest next Friday.
