YCHS girls lose matches

BUFFALO — Yates Center High’s Wildcats lost two non-league volleyball matches Thursday.
Host Altoona-Midway High defeated Yates Center 25-19, 19-25, 25-20. The Wildcats lost 25-18, 25-18 to Chetopa.
“We played with some intensity. Against Altoona, we passed well and kept hitting the ball until we made something happen,” said Dan Berg, Wildcat head coach. “The girls gave a great effort.
“Despite passing and serving poorly against Chetopa, the girls played with some fire and didn’t give up.”
Kassy Reynolds had 11 of her 15 kills on the night against Altoona-Midway plus had four solo blocks and one service point. Autumn Douglas had 13 kills, one block and one tip at the net plus served for nine points and had three aces.
Drew Spencer had nine points, one kill, one tip and 12 set assists. Paige Steinforth had 10 assists, four points, one ace and one tip. Daryean Estes had eight points, four ace serves, four kills and one tip.
Shannon Stoats served four points and one ace and Bri Crellin had four service points. Alexa Stephenson had three points and two kills.
